About us

Adisa Farooq Khan, Founder of Al Huda Bookstore

As a child growing up in France, I didn’t really have access to many Islamic resources. Apart from one class a week at the local mosque, there wasn’t much to help me learn or connect with my faith in a deeper way. I always wished there was something more.

Later on, when I got married, moved to Newcastle, and became a mother, my life changed completely. With my first child, who has additional needs, I wanted to introduce him to Islam in a way that was gentle and not too complicated. That’s when I discovered My Touch and Feel Alif Baa Taa. My son has always loved sensory play and books, and to combine both while learning about our religion felt extraordinary to me.

Still, the idea of opening my own store only came a little later, during a very difficult time in my life. When my first child started nursery, I sadly lost my second baby due to an ectopic pregnancy. I suddenly had so much time on my hands, and my heart felt so heavy. I needed to find a purpose, something positive to hold on to and move forward with. That’s when this project was born.

I started small, selling on different online platforms, but very quickly I realised this was much more than just a side project, it was a passion. Al hamdulillah, over time I was able to take part in family fun days, charity fundraisers, and author meet-and-greets. Every step reminded me that this journey was not only about books, but about our community and sharing Islam in a way that touches hearts.

Today, thanks to the unconditional support of my family, my customers, and above all Allah ﷻ, I finally have the blessing of opening this website. My dream is to continue offering Islamic children’s books and educational games, and in the future, to also provide meaningful resources for adults, in shaa Allah.

This store is more than a business to me, it’s my way of giving back, of keeping faith alive in our everyday lives, and of making sure that no child or adult grows up without the resources I once wished I had.
